Rotronic HygroGen
The HygroGen is a generator of controlled percentage
relative humidity (%rh) and temperature conditions, primarily for
calibrating humidity instrumentation.
It is completely self-contained, requiring no external
resources except mains power, and is light enough to be portable
for use on-site. Its key features are its ability to control the
temperature within the calibration chamber over the wide range of
5…50°C, and to change the humidity condition in the chamber
in typically just two minutes. It is possible to calibrate up to
five probes simultaneously. A comprehensive range of probe sizes
may be supported, so almost any type of hygrometer can be calibrated
in the HygroGen.
Significant cost savings can be achieved using the HygroGen. With
each calibration point typically achieved in ten minutes or less,
laboratory or on-site calibrations can be carried out in a fraction
of the time taken when using salt methods. Being portable, the HygroGen
can be applied to instruments on-site, which again saves the time
normally taken to un-install and re-install fixed transmitters.
A further benefit of this method of calibration is that the whole
instrument loop or monitoring system can be verfied.
An uncertainty framework is available to users of the HygroGen.
The typical uncertainty of the humidity and temperature is ±1.5…2.0
%rh and ±0.2°C, based on the use of a certified %rh probe.
This probe is easily removed and replaced, so the HygroGen can be
kept in constant use, even when the transfer standard calibration
is due.
The instrument is delivered as standard with a certified control
probe, and requires no specialist training to operate or maintain,
allowing the user to start calibrating humidity probes immediately. |
